Here’s a chance to voice your opinion about the greatest baseball SimLeague players from 1915 to 1975. Take a look at the lists below and name your favorite player. For each time period, we’ve listed five or six of the best players. For those that could have been listed in two of these eras, we tried to pick the one where they did their best or were most well-known.
1915 to 1925
This era started with the Dec. 22, 1915 agreement in which Major League Baseball and the Federal League agreed to dissolve the Federal League, with most of the owners getting bought out by owners from the American League and National League.
1926 to 1935
This era was dominated by the New York Yankees. The lineup was dubbed “Murderer’s Row” in 1927, led by Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Connie Mack’s Philadelphia Athletics also won two World Series (1929 and 1930) during this stretch.
1936 to 1945
In January 1936, the first players ever were elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. The original give inductees were Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson and Walter Johnson.
1946 to 1955
If the Yankees teams in the 1920s were dominant, the teams in the late 1940s and 1950s were legendary. The Yankees won every World Series between 1947 and 1953. But the biggest event happened on April 15, 1947, when Jackie Robinson started at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers, breaking the color barrier in baseball.
1956 to 1965
On Sept. 6, 1963, the 100,000th major league game is played between the Cleveland Indians and the Washington Senators.
1966 to 1975
On June 14, 1966, Miami defeated St. Petersburg in 29 innings, 4-3, in a Florida State League game. It is the longest uninterrupted game in organized baseball history.
