Round 3 of the GOT saw the field reduced from 108 to 72 teams. Three 77-win teams made the cut, with five others missing out. Defending champion Alan (WhatsMyID) Herzberg's The Fabulous Thunderbirds in the Willie Hernandez League topped all tournament participants in Round 2 with a 102-60 record. Round 3 of the 2024 Masters comprises two linked accelerated seasons - Classic followed by SSG - with participants choosing four different franchise/position groups (IF, OF, SP, C/RP) from which to draft their rosters, with their SSG rosters in the second league being limited to the players they finished the season with in the Classic first league. COMMUNITY CATS 🐱 THE FIX IS IN THE COMEBACK CUSTOM LEAGUES KINGS THE TIPPING POINT COMMUNITY CATS 🐱 There was Harry (“the Cat”) Brecheen, Andres (“the Big Cat”) Galarraga, and now there's Floofie the cat and her five kittens. Kevin (cravath) Feeney found Floofie and her kittens huddled in a neighbor's woodpile and took them in.  He started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $1500 for their care, which he posted to the DMO message board.  Imagine Sports offered $10 credit for every $20 contributed by a member of our community, and within just three days the target was met. Thanks to all who contributed! Perhaps a Floofie League is in order, with each team having a “cat” captain :). NEW “CLASSIC” SALARIES ARE HERE! REGISTER NOW FOR THE LADDER LEAGUES STANDARD ASSN SEASON 45 TOURNAMENT NEWS CUSTOM LEAGUES KINGS THE TIPPING POINT NEW “CLASSIC” SALARIES ARE HERE! As foreshadowed in last month's newsletter, new Classic (career-rated) player salaries are now in effect.  In what has to be one of the more improbable juxtapositions, the biggest salary increases in dollar and percentage terms ($2 million minimum salary in the case of the latter) went to Pop Lloyd ($2,375,000) and Matt Albers (+50.7%) respectively.  In all, 11 players went up over $2.3 million and a whopping 153 over $2 million. The biggest decreases: Rogers Hornsby ($2,062,000) and Dave Berg (19.79%).  Hornsby was the only player whose salary dropped by over $2 million. The salaries for Classic (career-rated) players are changed three times annually. The next salary change is scheduled for the end of this month. Salaries are adjusted using a “supply-and-demand” formula, which compares the usage of players with similar salaries in Standard, Grand Open Tournament and Ladder Leagues Standard Assn leagues during the previous four months. The salaries of players used more often go up; those of players used less often go down. This will be the first salary change for the 300+ players added to the player pool last October. IT'S 2023 ALL OVER AGAIN BI-CYCLE THE WILD ONE CUSTOM LEAGUES KINGS THE TIPPING POINT IT'S 2023 ALL OVER AGAIN The 2023 season is now live and available online! Heading the salary list is Shohei Ohtani. The AL MVP will cost you a cool $27,280,000 As part of the release, the rule limiting pickoff throws, introduced in 2023, has been added. It is available as an option in all Custom leagues. We also have made changes to the SSG standard league setup, which replaces the 2022 with the 2023 season. The salary cap has been raised to $130 million, the periodic payments schedule has been modified, and loans can now be taken against future income payments. Along with the introduction of these two seasons, there will be an overhaul of reliever endurance ratings for the 1920 season, updating of park factor windows for parks currently in use to include the 2023 season, and a change to Dick Allen’s 3B range rating from Vg to Av.
